Celebrating World Quality Week at Benchmark

by Brenda Battin Cianciosi / November 8, 2021

World Quality Week 2021 is November 8-12, 2021. This special week is all about recognizing quality management professionals and their contributions to the betterment of our products, processes, and world. Benchmark is excited to celebrate World Quality Week. We pride ourselves on the high quality of our work, and more importantly, the individuals on our quality teams that make it happen.

This year's theme of "Sustainability: improving our products, people and planet" focuses on quality's role in sustainability and its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) impact:ESG-graphic

  • Quality helps improve products and services.
  • Quality management systems and processes help to improve business results and reputations.

We were excited to learn that CQI had selected this theme because sustainability is a strategic and operational imperative for Benchmark. Our sustainability journey has evolved to become more comprehensive across our business. In 2020, we established our ESG/Sustainability Council – a cross-functional team of leaders responsible for leading our ESG/Sustainability strategy and monitoring our corporate social responsibility and environmental sustainability initiatives.

This year, with the assistance of outside ESG expertise, we assessed material indicators and engaged with our internal and external stakeholders on ESG topics leading to the five tenets of our ESG strategy:ESG-icon-graphic2

  • Environmental Responsibility
  • Our People
  • Our Community
  • Governance
  • Our COVID-19 Response

Benchmark is committed to furthering our sustainability efforts throughout our business. We will be consolidating the reporting of our sustainability programs as part of our 2021 Sustainability Report that we will release in 2022.

Our sustainability journey will continue during World Quality Week as we celebrate by learning and growing as an organization. Quality is a reflection of each of us. For sustainability, think of the phrase "be the change you wish to see in the world," which is often attributed to Mahatma Gandhi.

We also ask that our customers, partners, and community come together to enjoy this event and celebrate the efforts we have made collectively to push towards a cleaner, safer world.
