Monday, March 18th marked Jeff Benck’s first day in his new role as Benchmark President and CEO. We’re pleased to extend a warm welcome to Jeff, who is eager to lead the company to new heights during this critical phase in our evolution. We’d like to introduce you to Jeff, provide details on his background and his vision for the company, and explain why he chose Benchmark.
Jeff is an engineer by degree who graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, as well as Master of Management of Technology from the University of Miami Business School. He spent the early years of his career as a development engineer at IBM and would go on to hold various engineering, marketing and project management roles at the company. His career at IBM lasted more than 18 years, and he credits his time there for providing an excellent foundation of experience in multiple positions.
After he left IBM, he would go on to hold C-level roles with a variety of mid-cap public companies who were suppliers to computer and networking companies like IBM and HP. These roles provided Jeff with a unique background on what it was like to support a large OEM, and he also gained valuable experience running a company. During his time as President and CEO of Emulex, Jeff even worked with Benchmark, who was a supplier to the company. His most recent role as President and CEO of Lantronix allowed Jeff to delve into the Internet of Things realm.
Jeff’s perspective in a wide variety of roles, as well as his experience on the OEM side, has provided him with a deeper insight on customer needs and the current challenges of the innovation economy.
“I joined because I saw the opportunity to be a part of something special going on here at Benchmark. I see that we have all the pieces and amazing talent on our team.”
Jeff believes that Benchmark will continue setting the standards for excellence and he is excited about the opportunity to drive innovation in the industry for customers, employees and shareholders.

Jeff’s vision for the company involves a centralized focus on the customer and igniting profitable growth. He believes that more organizations need help developing leadership products. Vertical integration is also a continuing trend in the tech industry and more companies want to manufacture locally. These are opportunities that Benchmark is well positioned to take advantage of and Jeff sees incredible potential given the company's engineering capabilities, technology solutions offerings and advanced manufacturing platforms.
