Our integrated product realization solutions expedite cost-effective product development, supporting our customers within the aerospace, defense, advanced computing, and next-generation communications markets with size, weight, and power (SWaP) constraints and unique RF system designs.

Benchmark’s Phoenix Center of Excellence provides high-quality solutions for RF/Microwave and Microelectronics challenges, eliminating both technological and operational hurdles. This center not only offers exceptional design engineering services but also manufacturing services, including for ITAR and some space products. Benchmark’s Ayutthaya Center of Excellence specializes in medium-volume production of satellite communication devices, microwave/millimeter wave communication infrastructure systems, and electro-optical assemblies. Ayutthaya also offers test development and failure analysis services.

Testing Capabilities

Benchmark provides extensive test capabilities to ensure your product is ready for the field, spanning from conventional RF to satellite Ka/Ku band to E-band millimeter wave (mmWave) frequencies. Equipped with cutting-edge microwave and mmWave test equipment — such as broadband signal generators, vector network analyzers (VNAs), high-speed digital storage oscilloscopes (DSOs), RF power meters, and wideband spectrum analyzers — our team of product design and test development engineers thoroughly analyze components, circuits, and systems up to 100 GHz. Whether developing functional tests or automated tests for volume production, we deliver precise and reliable results that guarantee the quality and performance of RF/microwave products.

  • Detection and analysis of high-speed mmWave pulses for automotive and military radar testing
  • Spectrum analysis to 70 GHz
  • Calibration of passive component (cables, filters, attenuators) losses at mmWave frequencies before system and network integration
  • Generating complex signal waveforms at mmWave frequencies
  • Testing overbroad and narrow bandwidths to 110 GHz

Instruments and Expertise

The need to conduct tests, diagnose issues, and optimize performance at mmWave frequencies has become increasingly important due to the rise of applications operating at 24 GHz and beyond (such as 5G New Radio – NR) cellular wireless networks.

To expedite the development and ensure consistent production of new products, our mmWave testing, troubleshooting, and tuning capabilities are situated alongside design engineering and manufacturing operations. That means that when challenges arise, Benchmark won't just offer you a description of the problem, we propose solutions. Our specialized on-site Failure Analysis lab contains advanced equipment and experts to diagnose any issues and get production back on track.

Benchmark Phoenix and Ayutthaya are designed to support New Product Introduction (NPI) of low design margin products. The vertical integration of multiple manufacturing services required for many RF/Microwave products removes limitations posed by traditional, stove-piped manufacturing methods, especially for intricate embedded and hybrid designs. We tackle manufacturing challenges associated with advanced designs, opening up a broader range of design element options to RF system engineers. Flexibility of Production

Benchmark tailored our Phoenix and Ayutthaya Centers of Excellence to specific customer needs. Benchmark Phoenix, for instance, carries certifications and additional processes that make it the perfect choice for ITAR or space-certified products. Proximity to U.S.-based customers or design teams can be an advantage if frequent design changes are expected. On the other hand, Benchmark Ayutthaya is the clear choice for higher-volume products with its expertise in automation development and processes.

Our Phoenix Center of Excellence specializes in low- to medium-volume production, but can seamlessly transfer designs to Benchmark Ayutthaya if required to efficiently support higher volumes or geographical proximity to customers. Regardless of the production location, however, customers can always access Phoenix’s design development resources for upgrades and enhancements.

Processes and equipment are mirrored between Phoenix and Ayutthaya for smooth product transfers. The two teams have experience transferring designs and working together to scale manufacturing processes.
