Benchmark Safety Month Highlights Focus on Ergonomics and Workplace Well-Being

by Benchmark / June 25, 2026

As Safety Month progressed through June, Benchmark highlighted ergonomics as part of its annual initiative. The month-long focus reflected our commitment to creating environments that supported employee well-being, strengthened safe work practices, and advanced operational excellence across our global operations. Benchmark’s purpose is to innovate for a healthier, safer, and better-connected world, and this initiative reinforced that commitment through practical, people-centered safety awareness.

Why Ergonomics Matter

Ergonomics is the practice of designing work tasks, tools, and environments to better fit the people performing them. Across manufacturing, lab, and office settings, effective ergonomic design helped reduce physical strain, improved comfort, and supported more efficient, consistent performance.
A strong ergonomic focus also helped reduce the risk of musculoskeletal disorders and other strain-related injuries. By addressing how people lifted, moved, reached, sat, and performed repetitive tasks, teams created safer workplaces while supporting productivity, quality, and long-term employee health.

June Focus Areas

Week 1 (June 1–5): Warm-Up and Stretching Exercises

The first week highlighted the value of preparing the body for physical activity on the job. Stretching and warm-up routines helped improve mobility, increased readiness, and reduced the likelihood of strains associated with repetitive or physically demanding work.

Week 2 (June 8–12): Manual Material Handling and Safe Lifting

The second week focused on safe lifting and material handling practices. Emphasis was placed on evaluating loads, maintaining proper posture, and using available tools or equipment to reduce physical strain and help prevent injury during routine tasks.

Week 3 (June 25–19): Workstation Ergonomics for Production and Bench Setups

The third week centered on workstation design in production environments. Topics included bench height, tool placement, reach zones, seating, and lighting—factors that helped employees work more comfortably and efficiently while minimizing unnecessary bending, reaching, and repetitive motion.

Week 4 (June 22–26): Office Ergonomics

The final focus area looked at ergonomics in office settings, where desk setup and prolonged sitting could impact comfort over time. Key topics included chair adjustment, monitor positioning, keyboard and mouse placement, and the importance of regular movement throughout the day.

Supporting a Safer Workplace

At Benchmark, safety remained an essential part of how we supported our people and delivered for our customers, partners, and communities. By highlighting ergonomics during Safety Month, Benchmark reinforced the importance of proactive injury prevention, thoughtful workplace design, and continuous improvement across its operations. This focus reflected our broader commitment to responsible business practices and building a healthier, safer, and better-connected world.
