Paul Tufano was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer in September 2016. He joined Benchmark’s Board of Directors in February 2016.
Paul brings broad experience to his new role, having spent over 35 years in the technology and telecommunications industries, most recently serving as Chief Financial Officer of the Alcatel-Lucent Group, a telecommunications company, from 2008-2013, where he also served as Chief Operating Officer from 2012-2013. Previously, he was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Solectron Corporation, an electronics manufacturing services company, where he also served as Interim Chief Executive Officer. Prior to Solectron, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Maxtor Corporation, a manufacturer of computer hard disk drives, having served previously as Chief Operating Officer and as Chief Financial Officer. Before joining Maxtor, he held management positions in finance and operations at IBM.
Paul holds a bachelor's degree in economics from St. John's University and a master's degree of business administration in finance, accounting and international business from Columbia University.
Don’s career has centered on the sound fiscal management of the companies he has served over the past 30 years. His abilities to analyze and navigate complex finance and investment opportunities that strategically enhance financial performance and grow the business have made him an indispensable member of Benchmark’s senior executive team. Don has been with the company since 2002, serving as the CFO since 2006, during which time he has led the diligence, purchase and integration of multiple acquisitions. He successfully navigated the company through an extreme Thai flood event in 2011, minimizing the impact to the customers and the organization. Don also interacts with the investment community, providing key financial and company information.
His extensive experience in financial management has given him the tools necessary to take a hands-on approach to both the planning and implementation of fiscal programs and strategies and the development and maintenance of effective internal controls to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Don received his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas and is a certified public accountant.
Scott’s legal background spans more than 25 years of providing counsel to large, multinational companies. His past experience
s with companies such as Nabors Industries, ExpressJet Airlines and Continental Airlines have given him the expertise to make informed legal decisions, train employees on ethics and compliance, guide acquisitions and quickly resolve issues. He is a trusted advisor to the Board and executive team, ethically applying the law to protect and advance the interests of shareholders, employees and customers.
Scott received his Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School. He also earned a master’s degree in political science and international relations and a bachelor’s degree in political science, both from Utah State University.
Mike Buseman serves as Benchmark’s Executive Vice President of Global Operations with responsibility for all worldwide manufacturing operations. Mike is an accomplished executive with broad experience in operations, quality and customer relationship management. He has an extensive background in EMS and related industries.
Mike served as Chief Global Logistics and Operations Officer of Avnet, Inc., a global electronics components company, and was Executive Vice President of Global Manufacturing Operations at Plexus Corp., having served as their Vice President of Global Technology, Quality and Facilities previously. Additionally, Mike served as Vice President and General Manager of Operations of Celestica, Inc., as well as their Director of Operations, Engineering, and Technology. Mike began his career in 1983 with Unisys, Inc., holding positions of increasing responsibility, including Principal Process Engineer and Director of Advanced Design Manufacturing Services.
Mike holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from South Dakota State University and an MBA from the University of St. Thomas, Minnesota.
Jan’s extensive, customer-focused career covers more than 30 years of leading high-performance multicultural technology development teams at industry-leading computing systems companies. His ability to make decisions quickly and inspire teams to move at the speed of technology make him a valued contributor to the Benchmark executive team, where he leads technology development insights and innovations.
Jan’s broad business experience in multi-company and multicultural management makes him the perfect fit for leading Benchmark’s global engineering group. In this role, he heads a team of highly skilled engineers responsible for ensuring Benchmark’s components keep our customers’ products at the forefront of their industries.
Prior to joining the Benchmark team in 2015, Jan served as an executive leader at both IBM and Lenovo, where he led the development and delivery of a number of key products, including IBM’s x86-based servers and PureFlex systems. During his tenure at IBM, he established the IBM Taiwan Systems and Technology Lab, growing the group to 300 engineers while leading 650 engineers across four U.S. locations as well as others in Taiwan and China. He also led the IT team for the 2006 Olympics in Torino, Italy, and led the development, production and program management of IBM’s significant acquisition of Texas Memory System.
Jan earned both his Bachelor and Master of Science in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
As group president, Doug is responsible for Benchmark’s Asia and European operations. He joined Benchmark as the program management director — Thailand in 1997. He was named general manager of our Thailand plants in 2002; vice president — Asia in 2006; group president — Asia in 2011; and added the responsibility for European operations in 2014.
Prior to joining Benchmark, Doug was the president of ACL Electronics Inc., a printed circuit board manufacturing company. Mr. Hebard also held positions of director of purchasing and strategic commodity manager at GSS/Array Technology and operations manager at PCI LTD in Singapore.
Bob Pruett is a manufacturing executive with experience in multiple technology based industries including Semiconductor Capital Equipment, Healthcare, Instrumentation and Aerospace. He is an entrepreneurial, hands-on leader with experience in developing organizations and teams in fast growth industries.
As Vice President of the Precision Technologies Group, he has operational responsibility and customer engagement for locations in the United States and Mexico. In addition to ongoing responsibility for execution and global customer engagement, he maintains ownership of the PT Group overall strategy including technology roadmaps, customer alignment and site missions.
Prior to Benchmark, Bob was President and CEO of OVISO Manufacturing, Vice President of ESCO Integrated Manufacturing Group and Primary owner and President of ISYS Manufacturing. During his tenures at these companies - he led acquisitions, integration of competitors, and development of a green-field site in Mexico. His education includes a BSME from Cal Poly and graduate studies in business at Golden Gate University.
Tim Facklam joined Benchmark in 2011. He is currently group vice president, operations, overseeing sites in Rochester, Minn., Winona, Minn., Moorpark, Calif., San Jose, Calif., and Tijuana, Mexico. Prior to his current role, he was director of supply chain from 2011–2013 and general manager of the Minnesota division from 2014–2015.
Tim has an extensive background in supply chain and operations management within the electronics industry. Prior to joining Benchmark, he was with IBM from 2004–2011 in operations management within the company’s Engineering and Technology Services division. Before joining IBM, he held division and regional supply chain director roles at Celestica from 1998–2004. Prior experience also includes time at Cray Research and SGI from 1988–1998 in supply chain and program management roles.
Tim earned a bachelor’s degree in business management and computer science from University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
Mr. John Russell currently holds the position of vice president of Material Systems for Benchmark Electronics where he is responsible for all defense and commercial related supply chain architecture, procurement activities, and contract management across the network of Benchmark global operations.
Russell and his team are responsible for the development of the supply chain to manage complex customer needs and to drive a flexible and responsive supply chain aligned to the highest levels of quality, technical, and cost requirements.
Russell has been instrumental in developing a “highly process driven” organization and for a period of time held a dual role as Chief Information Officer (CIO) to insure that lean business processes were developed and aligned with the information technology infrastructure of the organization. He and his team remain focused on continuous improvement programs to achieve overall results on behalf of global customers.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Russell served as Vice President of Manufacturing and led global operations in North America, South America, and Europe where his responsibilities included profit and loss ownership of new program introductions, engineering projects, master planning and delivery, and order fulfillment. Under his leadership, the organizations were the recipient of a number of supplier performance awards included Supplier of the Year. Mr. Russell joined Benchmark in 1999 and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in business management from Athens University. Prior experience includes service in the United States Army and leadership roles in program management and green field plant operations at AVEX Electronics and SCI.
Lisa Weeks is currently corporate vice president of Strategy and Investor Relations at Benchmark Electronics, Inc. As a member of the senior leadership team, Lisa identifies and closes strategic acquisition targets, coordinates investor relations activities, and champions the company’s Voice-of-the-Customer initiatives.
Lisa joined Benchmark in August 1999 and during her tenure has held numerous leadership positions in account management, operations and business development. Her diverse background and training — from practiced engineer to savvy business practitioner — make Lisa a valuable asset to the Benchmark leadership team.
Prior to joining Benchmark, Lisa was an astrodynamics engineering at Teledyne Brown and a program manager at AVEX Electronics. Lisa holds both a Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from Auburn University and a Master’s degree in business administration from Vanderbilt University.
Jeff is an accomplished and results-oriented IT professional with more than 25 years of experience in IT transformation, strategic planning, operations and project management. He leverages technical knowledge and business acumen to improve profitability, grow revenue, reduce costs and meet business objectives, collaborating with business executives to create necessary and desired changes.
Jeff’s background includes over 20 years of experience providing IT direction to large, multinational manufacturing companies. His past experience with companies such as Accenture, International Rectifier and NEC has given him the expertise to set the strategic direction and lead the transformation of Benchmark’s IT organization in support of customers, employees and shareholders.
Jeff received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville with concentrations in information technology. He is PMP, Six Sigma, ITIL and Lean Manufacturing certified.
Barbara Sorenson is currently vice president, corporate controller and assistant treasurer, responsible for overseeing the global accounting and treasury functions for Benchmark. As a management team member, she is also an integral part of Benchmark’s due diligence and integration teams on the M&A front. Upon joining Benchmark in 2003, Barbara led our successful SOX implementation effort.
Prior to her tenure at Benchmark, Barbara was senior vice president and controller of a publicly held savings bank in Houston for 10 years. She also spent 10 years at KPMG in audit services.
Barbara received her bachelor’s degree of business administration from the University of Texas at Austin and is a certified public accountant.
As vice president of financial reporting since 2006, James is responsible for the company’s internal and external financial reporting. He has served Benchmark for the last 20 years of his career.
Prior to joining the organization, James spent eight years with KPMG, holding various positions in the assurance practice.
James earned a bachelor’s degree of business administration in accounting from Baylor University and is also a certified public accountant.
