Target Tester
Going forward, the Target Tester has become the base deployment tool
for Benchmark Electronics’ standard functional test. Through
flexible instrumentation, many types of products may be tested on a
standard rack at a competitive price to provide customers a quick
and reliable custom solution.
Target Tester Overview
Benchmark Electronics has developed a functional test platform
called the Target Tester. The tester was designed with the following
goals:
- To reduce Customer NRE charges by offering a standard test system for
multiple products.
- To provide a standard tester design to support commonality and portability
between multiple Benchmark Divisions.
- To expedite a functional test development schedule beyond a wholly custom
solution.
- To apply a test solution that does not over-burden production resources by
way of test time, floor space, or test process price.
- To meet the requirements of Benchmark Co-workers Corporate-wide who will
use the test platform.
Key benefits of the resulting Target Tester include the definition
of standard components to meet common tester requirements,
development templates to maximize experiences, common user interface
and functionality for operator familiarity, and a highly flexible
approach that accommodates many test solutions.
The base Target Tester by namesake is targeted specifically for test
solutions requiring common test stimulus and measurements. The base
tester typically has common instrumentation such as a PC with test
software, power supplies, and multi-function DMM. This base can then
be expanded to a wide variety of test solutions as illustrated
below.
